Here is a video I made experimenting with different camera angles & movement
Camera Angles & Movements in Order Based on Video
- Movement, Panning - The camera follows the subject, the person in hoodie, focusing on this
character's action - which is running away from a scene - Angle, Long - This shot shows where the scene takes place, and most of the action happening in the scene - the person in hoodie fleeing from the scene in a crowded area
- Movement, Tracking - This scene is where the camera follows where the subject is moving to. This helps slowly build a sense of suspense, slowly revealing where the subject is moving to and show where the person in the jacket ran from.
- Angle, Medium - This shots shows that the subject is walking and moving his head to look at why the other person was running; showing an equal amount of action and expression which was the subject's confusion
- Angle, Close Up - This close up shot focuses on the subject expression of being shocked of the scene in front of him - building tension and making the audience think why he is shocked.
- Movement, Quick Pan - This was used to change the subject in the scene and quickly reveal what causes the subject to have a shocked expression; breaking the tension and revealing the horror of the dead body.
- Angle, Long - This shot was used to show the dead body and the scene that causes the person to run away showing that it was a murder scene
- Movement, Pan - This pan was done to slowly change the focus back to the subject and slowly reveal what is happening; building suspense again because a sudden change of focus makes the audience worry for the person witnessing the horror.
I think in this project, I have experimented with quite a range of camera angles and movements; and i tried how to produce shots with these camera angle and movements in my phone. I think I am starting to understand how to explain the effects of each technical element I have used on the video. I think this project really helped me give the idea on what thought process I would need to have when creating the storyboard. Think this mini project plays a big part on how I make my storyboard project, and makes it easier for me to do.
